< VISIT OUR NEWEST PATIENTS >

turtlesThe NMLC, a new hospital for stranded marine animals, has just opened an interim facility to treat cold-stunned turtles and stranded seals. Its first patient, a juvenile loggerhead, was admitted on March 30 and successfully released into Nantucket Sound on September 13, 2004.

In addition to animal care, the NMLC offers educational programs and operates a Visitor Center during the summer months.

In parallel with these activities, the NMLC Trustees and staff are raising funds to renovate its 17,000 square foot building to create a hospital that can care for the full range of marine animals that strand (dolphins, porpoises, small whales, seals, and sea turtles) and a science/education center.
